T.I. Talks New Year's Eve Mixtape, Dr. Dre Collaboration

"For New Year's I'm gonna be waitin' on 'F--- da City Up' to drop. We got a party poppin' off down here in Atlanta, 200 Peachtree. We gonna turn up and it's basically that," T.I. told MTV. "Between the party and the mixtape, that's all I got going. New year, new money. That's that."
The recording sessions for the mixtape, which features Young Jeezy and Dr. Dre, have been been featured in a series of black & white trailers, the most recent of which came out this past Tuesday (Dec. 27), and while the songs have yet to leak, it sounds like some of Tip's best work in years.

2011 Earnings: Media Stocks Beat The Dow
YEARENDER: Wall Street�throughout 2011 became starry eyed when they talked about tech stocks. But they�still had a soft spot in their hearts for traditional media companies all year long.�Five of the seven companies in the Big Media group beat the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s 5.5% increase (through December 30th) — four of them by a lot. And they weren’t outliers: The Standard & Poor’s broadcasting index was +15.2% while the S&P movies and entertainment index was +10.2%. Many of the stocks were bolstered by the industry-wide improvement in ad sales. In addition, there was a general sense of relief — perhaps a pipe dream — that�digital companies don’t yet pose a clear and present danger to the way traditional movie and TV companies do business.�We’ll see how long that lasts.

New ?Ghost Hunters? Lawsuit Filed Against NBCUniversal
There is a new chapter in the five-year legal battle between two producers and NBCUniversal over the hit Syfy franchise Ghost Hunters, which went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. The producers, parapsychologist Larry Montz and publicist Daena Smoller, have filed a new breach of implied contract lawsuit against NBCUniversal claiming that Ghost Hunters is based on a concept they originally pitched to the company between 1996 and 2003. Along with NBCU and its cable networks division that includes Syfy, the complaint also names Ghost Hunters executive producer Craig Piligian and star/producer Jason Hawes. The new lawsuit, filed yesterday in Los Angeles Superior Court, comes less than 2 months after the U.S. Supreme Court denied an appeal by NBUniversal to review a lower court ruling that reinstated a complaint by Montz and Smoller alleging that Syfy stole the idea for Ghost Hunters. Montz and Smoller first filed a lawsuit against NBC Universal in 2006. They lost in district court on the issue of copyright, but the case was reinstated after appeal on grounds of implied breach of contract. NBCUniversal, with the backing of the MPAA, argued to the Supreme Court that federal copyright law trumped state contract law. 50 Cent and T.I. had a brief war of words last month on Twitter; following 50 Cent's assertion that Tip's wife, Tiny, should have taken the rap for the 2010 drug possession charges that landed T.I. back in jail for a year. Although T.I. balked at 50's commentary, 50 Cent says that the two have put their differences behind them now. In a recent interview, 50 shared that some acquaintances and a phone call helped end the 'beef' before it ever really boiled over. “We got mutual friends and I was actually in conversation with one of them, and they were around him,” 50 explained. “I didn’t tell him to get [T.I.] on the phone and [T.I.] didn’t tell him to get me on the phone, it was just there and it was like, 'Yo, you just need to talk to him because you don't know where [his anger] is coming from. Sucka Free Records head Duane “Hump” Hobbs has been accused of taking part in a drug distribution network; helping to sell hundreds of kilos of cocaine. Sucka Free was home to popular early 2000s rapper Lil Flip. Prosecutors claim that Hobbs took part in the drug distribution network while running the label. The organization was reportedly affiliated with Mexican drug cartels. The drug ring allegedly stretched from Mexico, Houston, Chicago and Mississippi and into several other states and cities. An informant says he personally delivered cocaine to Hobbs numerous times. The organization’s operated from 1995 until as recently as 2010. Hobbs has no criminal record, but could face 10 years to life in federal prison without parole. |

| Rapper Busted For Vandalism In L.A.
Tyler, the Creator was arrested for suspicion of vandalism last night in Hollywood, California. The Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All frontman was taken into custody after destroying sound equipment at the Roxy following a performance. Tyler performed that evening but had reportedly been dissatisfied with the sound engineer. According to TMZ, he was arrested and was booked at a nearby station after police said the rapper “just destroyed an electric soundboard belonging to the venue." Authorities also alleged that the rapper inadvertently agitated the crowd. "As [Tyler] was being escorted to a nearby radio car, the crowd exiting the venue became angry and rushed into the street, towards deputies." Sunset Blvd was shut down for a half an hour following the incident. |

TMZ reports that the Grammy-winning entertainer totaled $20,403.64 for an American Express credit card bill. American Express claims the rhymer hasn't paid up on the monies owed to the company, even after being sent a notice about the amount.
The credit card company filed a lawsuit against Nelly in October, according to the tabloid website. The suit demanded that the 'Country Grammar' star, born Cornell Haynes, Jr., pay back the more than $20,000 and an additional $3,000 in lawyer's fees, which have yet to be paid.

According to estimates, Young Jeezy's fourth offering, 'Thug Motivation: Hustlerz Ambition,' which was released on Tuesday (Dec. 20), is projected to surpass 200,000 sales in its first week, despite lengthy delays.
Based on one-day reports from retailers, Hits Daily Double claims that the Atlanta rapper will come to close to matching his last album, 'The Recession,' which was released in 2008, and clocked almost 260,000 first-week sales. By comparison, Jeezy's nearest competition is Chi-town legend/film star Common, whose 'The Dreamer, The Believer' is projected to sell a paltry 55,000 - 65,000.
