Rapper Bow Wow owes a significant amount of money in back taxes. TMZ has reported that a tax lien has been filed in Florida against the rapper, stating that he owes the government $91,105.61 in taxes from 2006. The Young Money rapper joins an ever-growing list of hip hop stars facing tax troubles. Nas, Lil Wayne, Jermaine Dupri and several others have run afoul of the IRS in recent years. No statement has been issued from Bow Wow's camp regarding the story. |

Common, Rick Ross Salute "The Message"
| Rappers Team Up For Hip Hop Tribute
Rap superstars Common, LL Cool J, Lupe Fiasco and Rick Ross will all take part in a tribute to "The Message." The classic Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five track introduced topical hip hop to audiences in 1982, and the song will be honored during this year's Grammy Nominations Concert. Furious Five members Melle Mel and Scorpio will also be a featured in the tribute. The nomination concert will air later this week in preparation for the 54th annual Grammy Awards. It was announced last week that "The Message" was selected by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame next year. |

LAPD to Travis Barker -- You're Pissed, Let's Talk

The LAPD wants a face-to-face meeting with Travis Barker -- hoping to find out why the rocker has accused an officer of crossing the line during a routine traffic stop this weekend ... TMZ has learned.
Barker was pulled over Sunday after an officer noticed the drummer's car had no license plate and illegally tinted windows. Cops confirm Barker was issued a "fix-it" ticket and sent on his way.
But after the incident, Barker BLASTED the cop on Twitter -- saying, "Officer FARD of LAPD, get a life man. Find some bank robbers or do something productive 2 do with your time. I know high school was hard 4 u."
Barker continued, ""Pullin me over interrogating me & acting like u did over tinted windows till u scared the piss out my kids was uncalled 4.Job well done man."
He also claims the officer "had the nerve" to ask if he had guns in the car.
Now, TMZ has learned ... Sgt. Riggs of the Topanga Station tells TMZ, "I'd like to invite Travis to speak with me about the incident ... and possibly discuss the situation with the officers involved."
A rep for Barker tells TMZ, "We are handling this privately with the LAPD."

First, the mega-selling Canadian hip-hop phenom fessed up to drinking white wine spritzers backstage. When host Chelsea Handler gave him gruff, he explained that he became fond of the drink as a teenager, when he became infatuated with one of his mother's "voluptuous" friends.
"It had everything to do with big breasts and wine," Drake told Handler.

The duo, led by former Digable Planets MC Butterfly, dropped on the scene with the critically lauded album 'Black Up,' showing that like rock 'n' roll, hip-hop can usher in different types of sub-genres.

Rapper Ja Rule issued his first letter from prison. The incarcerated Queens rhymer released his letter to AllHipHop and detailed the story of a young inmate who attempted suicide after coming into prison. Ja says it was his first time witnessing an attempted suicide. "Today I can truly say I’ve been through it all," he writes. "A young kid comes in today they put him in the 18 cell right next to mine he looked kinda depressed coming in but nothing out of the ordinary. A few hours go past and all of a sudden I hear someone choking he’s trying to kill his self. "We all heard it everyone runs to their cell doors and start kicking, banging, calling the CO’s," he continued. D.A. Wants Conrad Murray to Pay More than $100 MILLION to MJ's Kids!!!

Prosecutors in the Conrad Murray manslaughter case are asking Judge Michael Pastor to order the doc to pay Michael Jackson's children more than $100 million for their loss.
According to new court docs filed by the D.A., Michael Jackson's kids are "entitled to wages or profits lost due to injury incurred by the victim."
Prosecutors say MJ's 3 kids are victims under the law, and are entitled to restitution from Dr. Murray ... which include wages, lost profits and funeral expenses. The D.A. cites a letter from the MJ Estate, estimating Michael would have made $100 million in revenue from the "This Is It" tour.
As we first reported, the D.A. is also seeking the maximum punishment -- 4 years in State Prison. The D.A. says they are seeking the max because Murray was "risking Mr. Jackson's life every night" by administering Propofol. And the D.A. says, MJ was a "particularly vulnerable victim." And the D.A. says, Murray lied and covered-up his crime.

Drake's sophomore album Take Care looks like its going to be as successful as many expected it would be. The album, which was released last week, has debuted this week at number one on the Billboard album charts. The project did under-perform slightly; as it was originally predicted to sell between 675,000 to 725,000 copies, but moved 659,190 units in its first week.
