Romeo Miller Launching Clothing Line

Romeo Miller is launching a new clothing line called College Boyys and College Girlls Clothing. Its part of his "I Am The Next..." campaign--designed to promote college to young children. The brand has already donated school supplies to young students in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Mississippi in Memphis.

"With the success and performance at retail of the College Boyys clothing brand, it’s a no-brainer to introduce College Girlls into the mix, making it a lifestyle brand with shoes, accessories and fragrances to come. It was a successful event, the kids were definitely inspired. They wore their individual t-shirts that read Who Am I… I’m the next doctor, teacher, lawyer etc. Going to college and getting a higher education really makes a difference,” Romeo Miller stated.

The line will be distributed and marketed by College League Apparel nationwide.

"Our brands empower kids to be themselves with tools like education and knowledge," added Kenisha Cross, College League Apparel VP of marketing. "With the preppy fashion movement, we represent the next generation of fashion! The line is described as ‘More than just a clothing brand…’ it stands for something and is making a difference. It’s high fashion at affordable prices with a positive message. As fashion continues to be more diverse and multi-cultural, the retail trade is buzzing with these exciting new brands."

Tyler's VMA Win Angers GLAAD

Tyler the Creator's "Best New Artist" win at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards angered gay and lesbian activist group GLAAD. The organization issued a statement blasting Tyler's appearance at the awards show and his win. The group has criticized some of the subject matter on Tyler's latest album, Goblin.

“Rather than providing simply a larger platform, MTV and other networks should educate viewers about why anti-gay and misogynistic language has no place in the music industry today,” said Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs at GLAAD. “Given Tyler’s history of such remarks, viewers and potential sponsors should refrain from honoring homophobia and in the future look to a more deserving artist.”

It has been alleged that the rapper's sophomore album includes more than 200 anti-gay slurs and remarks.
